Sunken Shed A Model of a Model for a Model
Temporary Built Installation

Fall 2022
Art Omi Sculpture Park, Ghent, New York

This built prototype for an outdoor gallery for models at Art Omi, NY, explores the spatial, temporal, and material proximities in the perception of art and architecture.

Challenging the ‘glass box’ museum space, this becomes a gallery for nature - found and constructed – in indeterminate unfolding. A ‘bubble’ appears as a container of raw phenomena – on one side a dam for the accumulation of water; on the other, a wall for the aggregation of earth. A consciousness of mud.

Three instances of one: a rendered complete model of a constructed partial model for an abstracted incomplete model. All exist as ideas of a ‘constructed’ nature – an imprint in the ground, an incomplete roof on boulders, a gutter for a pond, a ruin in reverse. The expanses of geologic time, its agents of material layering, and decomposition become visible. ’Muddy’ proximities.

Hover out of place, but stay with the mud.
Have a consciousness of mud.’
